Sand-coloured floors for t
he harbour's most beautiful building

The Challenge
"We want to emphasize the maritime environment.
Can you get your floors in a light sand colour?"

A few years ago, the Danish hotel chain, Milling Hotels, bought a 2,000 m2 disused grain warehouse at Odense harbor in order to completely renovate the building and use it as a headquarters and administration building. The listed building was renovated for a large amount of millions and is today one of the harbour's most beautiful buildings. As the icing on the cake, 2,000 m2 of sand-coloured Denpur Comfort floors from Dencoat were installed at the customer's request. Now it had to be done properly!

The Project
"One thing is the purchase price of the product, but we think always long-term – also financially"
The owner of the hotel chain, Jan Milling, says that the two main reasons for choosing Dencoat floors were the overall economy and the ability to choose the right color and surface for the floor.
"We think long-term when we invest, because as we know, floors need to be maintained. On the one hand, Denpur floors are extremely durable, and on the other hand, the floor is extremely easy to clean and without the ugly joints that otherwise often easily come loose, need to be repaired and collect dirt and grime.

Dencoat's solution
"The employees love that the flooris warm and soft to walk on..."
Dencoat and Milling Hotels cooperated in all decision-making processes. As mentioned, Jan Milling knew what colour the floors should be and originally wanted a glossy surface until Dencoat showed him a matte floor test – that settled the matter. The matte look helped to give the floors the desired visual expression that is reminiscent of a sandy beach.
- My employees also love it, so many of them walk with bare feet because the floor is soft and nice. But probably also because there is heat in the floor, says Jan Milling.
