"You only have 2 days to do the job"
In Portugal, the car testing centres are run by the state, and it is also the Portuguese state that hired Dencoat to renovate the floors in over 50 centres. The requirement for Dencoat was twofold: It had to be a hard-wearing and attractive coating, but even more importantly – the floors had to be able to be laid out and hardened in a time frame from Friday at 18.00 until Sunday evening. Thus, they could be ready for the car tires on Monday morning.
At the same time, it was important that the floors, which were cracked and holed, should be “nice and completely horizontal, so that it is possible to adjust the headlights correctly” after the renovation.

The Project
"We set a new speed record on floors"
Dencoat Spain says that there have been other suppliers on the job before, but they all had to give up after one or two days. Partly because of the floor solution they had available and partly because of the strict time requirements. “So, we are the first company to manage all centres”, says Philip De Vos, Dencoat Spain. The floor area of the testing centres fluctuates between 700 and 1,000 m2, and all have been renovated by Dencoat over the course of a year. Dencoat’s installation partner showed up at the individual testing centre, well prepared with a unique floor solution, proven laying tools and a top-notch crew.

Dencoat Spain chose to renovate the testing centres with Dencryl, which is a unique, robust and fast hardening floor system.

Dencryl withstands a very high mechanical or chemical impact, and the testing centres ‘ new floors can therefore withstand both heavy braking and starting, as well as oil and other car related chemicals.
Dencoat is one of very few providers in the world that has a technology that ensures that the floors can harden in just two hours, regardless of layer thickness. A non slip surface with aggregates of quartz was chosen for the Portuguese centres.

Meet our customer
The state-owned Centros de Inspeção Técnica, which runs the car testing centres in Portugal, commissioned a renovation and repair of the many floors to be completed within a year. CIT expresses great satisfaction that the schedule was met, including that the work with the floors, for all testing centres, was completed on time, so that they could open as planned for their customers.
