"The floor must be beautiful, environmentally friendly and comfortable to walk for our staff"
When Region Zealand was to build Psychiatric Hospital Slagelse, which has already won a design award and been named Denmark's most beautiful and modern in the field, they chose to pamper the 30,000 m2 of hospital floors with the market's most modern, environmentally and comfortable coating. At the same time, the design of the floors had to harmonise with the hospital's calm interior colour scheme.

Yes, many requirements were placed on the hospital's new floors: They had to be comfortable, environmentally friendly and reduce footstep sound and noise – and Denpur SL Comfort met all these requirements. A thickness of 6-7 mm on all 30,000 m2 – then the sound was put under a lid and created a comfortable surface for the healthcare staff's many daily steps. Due to the fact that Denpur SL Comfort is made from natural plant oils, the requirement for environmental properties was more than under control. And then there is the added benefit that is common to all Dencoat flooring systems. These are seamless floors: This means that they are free of joints and joints where dirt and bacteria can find refuge. At the same time, it makes the floor incredibly easy to clean.

DenCoat’s Solution

Dencoat's long-time partner, KA Gulve, took over the raw concrete floors, and corrected the last unevenness with a selflevelling mortar, so that they were ready for the final laying of the floor covering. In addition to the 30,000 m2 of Denpur floors in patient rooms, living areas, kitchens and canteens, Denpox floors were installed on more than 5,000 m2 of corridors. The work was planned over 6 months, and since the environmentally friendly floors do not emit hazardous substances, neither when laid or when they have been fully cured, the other craftsmen could continue their work elsewhere in the hospital.

Meet our customer
JAKON, which is one of the major construction companies in Denmark, was responsible for the interior fitting of the hospital. It was thus JAKON that chose Dencoat as the supplier of the environmentally friendly floors. In the reference material, JAKON used the German environmental standard, which describes the ingredients, the production of the floors and the disposal in due course. And Dencoat fully met this environmental standard.

-My background is that I have laid floors all over the world and participated in several foreign projects in Russia, Hong Kong and Dubai, among others. The preparatory work is the most important thing, both to ensure a level floor, but especially to create a solid foundation for adhesion. The most important thing for us is that the customer is satisfied. It also means that we work carefully and meticulously review the finished work. If we see the slightest mistake, we correct it.
